Venison Diet and accidental mix up

Bella has been on her venison only diet for a good 2 weeks now.  Tonight she accidentaly got hold of poppy's food and had a good munch.

3-4 hours after having the mix up, bella has been trying to scratch her ears, even though her feet are bandaged up.  We gave her an antihistamine to hopefully reduce the effect of the mix up.

This is a positive sign in a way because it supports the hypthosis that her issue is with diet and a reaction to certain proteins, fats, acids etc etc.

Poppy has been very supportive of the whole event, and loves to get involved with the venision, trying to sneak her food and chatting us up
for additional snacks.

Tommorow ill take a photo of a steroid cream we are using on her ears, and also a picture of
the venison that we are using..

White Boots- Bandages really help!

Here is a picture of Bella after we have wrapped some sticky bandage tape around her back feet.

She resists us putting them on her, but its pretty easy to have one person hold her down while the other person carefully tapes up the paw.

She thumps around abit, and doesnt like the sensation of having them on her, but after a while she gets used to it.
The result has been excellent, because there is no way she can scratch herself with them on, and it seems to also discourage the scratching behaviour in general.

We found that when one comes off,  and they tend to come loose every 4-5days, she didnt start scratching with the exposed paw.  This is a good sign.

If you need help getting the right tape, or putting it on its a great idea to see the vet nurse. Once you have done it once its easy enough.

The tape doesnt need to be tight, it just needs to wrap around.
